Frequently Asked Questions
General Pikter QuestionsHow does Pikter work? After you sign up for an account on Pikter you are given a special email address to send photos to via an email client or your mobile phone. Once Pikter receives the photo, we then will post it to the accounts that you have indicated you wish the photo to be posted to.
What devices does Pikter support? We have confirmed that Pikter works with most devices that sends a photo as an attachment with an email message. If the device you are attempting with Pikter does not send photos as attachments, then, currently, Pikter does not support those devices (such as phones using Sprint or Boost mobile).
Why do you only support limited services? We want to keep things simple. Thus the reason for us currently only supporting a limited number of sites (Twitter, Jaiku, Gospelr, Flickr and Picasa). There are many microblogging sites out there and will probably continue to grow in number. Keeping up with those would get quite intensive and your dashboard will get quite cluttered as well.
Oh yeah, by the way, we utilize Gravatar as an option for user's avatars.
We're into simple... and we're going to keep it that way.
Using PikterDo I have to use both Twitter and Jaiku to use Pikter? No. Pikter can post to just Twitter, just Jaiku, just Picasa or any combination of the sites we support. It is completely up to you which services you use Pikter to post to.
We currently support posting to: Twitter, Jaiku, Gospelr, Flickr and Picasa.
Why can't I just give you my Jaiku password instead of the API code? The way Jaiku's service is set up, they require for anyone using their API to send the API code for your account and not your password.
What type of files do you support? At this time, we only support .JPG files.
What is the file size limit for photos? We'd appreciate it if you'd keep the photos below 2MB.
Troubleshooting PikterWhy didn't my update post to Twitter or Jaiku?First off, be sure we have the correct account credentials for your accounts. If we do not have the correct information, your update will not post correctly.
Secondly, in order for Pikter's service to work correctly, the API's for Twitter and Jaiku must be fully operational. If they are not, then photos posted via Pikter may get lost by the server you wanted Pikter to post to.
Why is my avatar not showing up?Your avatar is reset (with the server you chose) every time you physically log in to Pikter. If that server's API is down, it may cause Pikter to lose your avatar.
The fix would simply be to log out, log back in and it should fix your avatar. If it does not, it is possible the API for your selected service is unavailable.
If your avatar does not update after several log in attempts, please email us at hey@pikter.com for assistance!
